Vicbreds were to the fore on Victoria Cup Night at Tabcorp Park, Melton last Saturday with a Group One and Group Three races going Vicbred.
Sundon gelding I Didnt Do It captured the Group One $125,000 SEW Eurodrive Australian Trotters Grand Prix with a barnstorming finish. It was his second Group One victory, his previous being the Vicbred Super Series Final for 4yo geldings.
I Didn’t Do it was bred by Mervyn Williamson, whose son Merv Williamson trains the gelding. He is by champion stallion Sundon out of the Gee Whiz mare Miss Whizz. A four time winner, I Didn’t Do it is her second foal and her only winner from four foals of racing age.
The Sundon x Gee Whiz cross has been remarkably successful with it producing nine $100,000 earners including Springbank Richard, Save A Sixpence, Don King and Andandon.
Earlier on in the night, Charlie Machsheen produced an outstanding effort to win the Group 3 $40,000 VHRSC Victoria Sires Classic. Owned by a group of owners which include recent Gordon Rothacker Medallist winner Ted Demmler, Charlie Machsheen raced three and four wide over the concluding stages but proved too strong in a quick 55.7 second last 800m.
As his name suggests, Charlie Machsheen is by Mach Three out of the Live Or Die mare Lady Of My Life. The dam was trained by Ted Demmler for 3 wins in a 34 start career. In the breeding barn she has produced only two foals with the other unfortunately dying early.
Live Or Die is starting to make his name as a Broodmare sire with his credits including recent NZ Cup winner Terror To Love. Live Or Die mares have produced three Group One winners to Mach Three, they being Devil Dodger, Mustang Mach and Charlie Machsheen.
