The Gold Coast Club had their big meeting of the year last Friday Night. On the program was the $50,000 Premiers Cup, the Group 3 Gold Coast Oaks and the Group 2 QBred Finals for 2yo’s.
The QBred finals consisted of two divisions, one for fillies and the other for colts and geldings. Both were for prizemoney of $35,000 and as they were Group 3 races a Vicbred Breeders Bonus of $3,500 was up for grabs if either winner was a Vicbred.
The colts and geldings division was won by a Vicbred in Marshall Law and the astute breeder who collected the $3,500 Vicbred Breeders Bonus was Solid Earth Pty Ltd.
Marshall Law is by the Western Hanover stallion Rustler Hanover out of the Fake Left mare Midnight Lace. Rustler Hanover now has 27 Australian bred winners headed by champion 4yo Bonavista Bay.
Midnight Lace, the dam of Marshall Law, won only once from 5 career starts however she descends from one of Australasia’s best families. She is out of the El Patron mare Mistron who is the dam of 11 winners including the $500,000 earner Masterson and the $200,000 earner Masked Crusader. She is the granddam of not only Marshall Law but also Maximillion.
Mistron is closely related to champion NZ mare Armalight and from that family hails many star horses. These include Lils Lady, Lenny Bromac, London Pride, Sand Pebbles and Sunday’s $125,000 NSW Breeders Challenge winner Excel Stride.
